Biographical Information

Joel Greenspan, MD, Associate, is a preventive medicine specialist in Atlanta, and provides assistance to Waife & Associates' clients in the areas of medical business intelligence and healthcare data warehousing, bio-security, pandemic preparedness, postmarketing health outcomes research, and government agency relations.

Dr. Greenspan served for 23 years as a medical officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. He is recognized nationally as an expert in public health surveillance and information policy. His last position at CDC was Assistant Director for Planning, Communications, and External Relations in CDC's Division of STD Prevention. Earlier in Dr. Greenspan's CDC career he served as a CDC communicable disease control consultant in the Hawaii and Massachusetts Health Departments where he coordinated the investigation and control of more than 60 community disease outbreaks and environmental emergencies. For the past 5 years he has been involved in the application of innovative software to epidemiology and surveillance.

He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Trinity College, his medical training at St. Louis University School of Medicine and Hartford Hospital, and a residency in Preventive Medicine at CDC. He has a master's degree in public health from Columbia University.
